Beadle not shocked by Winston suspension (0:46)

Doug Kezirian ESPN

The Westgate has taken down betting for Tampa Bay's Week 1 game and season win total. Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston may face league suspension, per Adam Schefter.

Ryan Fitzpatrick is a combined 1-8 against the Bucs' first three opponents (Saints, Eagles, Steelers) who all made the playoffs last year. Much more ideal for the Bucs if Winston could somehow serve this in Weeks 7-9, where Fitzpatrick is a combined 7-3 (Browns, Bengals, Panthers).

Winston set to be suspended 3 games in 2018 (2:19)

ESPN's Adam Schefter is reporting that the NFL is planning to suspend Bucs QB Jameis Winston for three games in 2018 as a result of the league's investigation into allegations he groped a female Uber driver in the spring of 2016. Ryan Fitzpatrick will fill in for Winston, something the Bucs prepared for all offseason, which is why they made re-signing him such a huge priority. Fitzpatrick won 2-of-3 starts for the Bucs last season when Winston was out with a shoulder injury. The Bucs open the season at New Orleans, followed by home games against the Eagles and Steelers.

The Bucs have waived (injured) defensive back Maurice Fleming, who had been featured on HBO's Hard Knocks last season before suffering a torn meniscus in his knee. He re-joined the Bucs in November as a member of their practice squad. He had been sidelined with an injury during the offseason program.

It's become somewhat of an annual tradition in Tampa that on the last day of Bucs minicamp, Gerald McCoy orders a Kona Ice truck for everyone. He's done it the last four or five years.

The Bucs have officially signed second-round draft pick Ronald Jones. The team has now signed all of their 2018 draft picks.

Bucs safety Chris Conte picked off Jameis Winston during red zone drills on a pass intended for Cameron Brate. Head coach Dirk Koetter said it's been a lot more competitive, offense versus defense, than the last two years.

Good deed: Bucs make up for text message flub

Twinsburg (Ohio) High School senior Justin Deeds accidentally got a text message from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and in return he got a signed Mike Evans jersey.

Bucs head coach Dirk Koetter was asked what he learned after all the hype and letdown of last season. "I'm the wrong guy to talk to about that because I don't believe in hype either way. The lesson is that we were 5-11 and 5-11 didn't get it done. We were 3-7 in one-score games — that's all that matters."

Adarius Taylor forced a Cam Brate fumble (Taylor came down with Brate and knocked it out of his hands) and Vernon Hargreaves picked off Jameis Winston during a red zone period. Hargreaves' pick was on a pass intended for Bobo Wilson. Wilson did have a touchdown catch over the middle on a pass from Ryan Fitzpatrick during that same period.

Bucs defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul has been getting reps at left defensive end with the first-team unit today. He said the biggest thing he's getting adjusted to is different terminology.

Bucs quarterback Jameis Winston said that improving his accuracy on the deep ball has been an area of focus this offseason. He also believes he has improved chemistry with wideout DeSean Jackson, even with Jackson not being present for all OTAs. They got some work in outside the facility.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

Bucs defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul said that the stresses of moving from New Jersey to Tampa and relocating his son contributed to him missing OTAs. He said he told his teammates and coaches his reasons for not attending.

Jenna Laine ESPN Staff Writer

The Bucs open their mandatory minicamp today. Three things I'm watching for: Jason Pierre-Paul's workload after missing OTAs, reps at outside corner opposite Brent Grimes (Vernon Hargreaves and rookie Carlton Davis) and depth at the right side of the offensive line with J.R. Sweezy and Demar Dotson both still recovering from injuries.

Bucs defensive end Noah Spence said that he's now eating about 10 meals a day to keep weight on. He said he actually got as low as 228 last year and is now 257. As far as the shoulder that landed him on IR last year, Dirk Koetter said, "I'm pretty sure [he's] ready to go."
