The Saints re-signed DT Jay Bromley and released CB Demetri Goodson. They also made two practice-squad switches, adding WR Shane Wynn and DB Chris Campbell while releasing WR Tanner McEvoy and DB Darius Hillary.

Sean Payton said Saints CB Marshon Lattimore is still in the concussion protocol because the team hasn't practiced yet since he suffered the injury in last week's Monday night game. But he said he's doing well. That's obviously good news since Lattimore is New Orleans' No. 1 cornerback and the Saints already lost veteran nickel corner Patrick Robinson to injured reserve last month.

Drew Brees was named the NFC Offensive Player of the Week for the second time in three weeks and 24th time in his career (third most in NFL history behind Tom Brady, 30, and Peyton Manning, 27). Brees had one of the best performances of his 18-year career, completing 26 of 29 passes for 363 yards and three TDs in a 43-19 rout of the Redskins. His completion percentage of 89.7 was a career best. ... And, oh by the way, he became the NFL's all-time leader in career passing yards in the process.

Is Brees On Your Mount Rushmore?

Tony Reali and the national panel react to Drew Brees passing Peyton Manning in All-Time passing yards and debate if he is on their Mount Rushmore of QBs, preview the Yankees-Red Sox matchup and much more.

Is Drew Brees On The QB Mount Rushmore?

Dan Le Batard, Papi and Mina Kimes question if we will see Drew Brees on the same level as Peyton Manning, if the Saints proved themselves to be true contenders, if it makes sense for the Eagles to go after Le'Veon Bell and much more.

Are People Overreacting To Drew Brees' Accomplishment?

Bomani Jones and Pablo Torre question if people are making too big of a deal about Drew Brees becoming the All-Time leader in passing yards, if Aaron Boone should accept the blame for the Yankees getting thumped by the Red Sox and much more.

Brees makes history in style, Saints thrash Redskins 43-19

Drew Brees' 62-yard touchdown pass to rookie Tre'Quan Smith made him the NFL's all-time leader in yards passing and sent the New Orleans Saints well on their way to a lopsided 43-19 victory over the mistake-prone Washington Redskins on Monday night.

What a way to send Drew Brees over the top: On the night when the Saints QB became the NFL's all-time passing yardage leader, the Saints routed the Redskins 43-19 to move to 4-1 on the season heading into a Week 6 bye. Brees was nearly perfect on his historic night, completing 26 of 29 passes for 363 yards and three touchdowns. His completion percentage of 89.7 was a new career best. And he now has 499 TD passes in his career, fourth all-time.

Saints CB Marshon Lattimore has officially been ruled out with a concussion. But the defense has been rolling along without him — highlighted by seldom-used backup Justin Hardee's 77-yard interception return to the 4-yard line in the third quarter. Hardee, a special teams ace, was pressed into action and delivered in a big way. Saints third-string QB/read-option specialist Taysom Hill ran in a TD for a 40-13 lead over the Redskins.
