With the Lakers acquiring the 39th pick from the 76ers for a 2019 second round pick via Bulls and cash according to Adrian Wojnarowski, Magic Johnson and Rob Pelinka can add one of the many second-round prospects they've worked out in the last couple months. The Lakers need shooting and are looking for versatility and the ability to perhaps play and/or guard multiple positions. They also have worked out a bunch of big men who have intriguing potential or can stretch the floor and rebound.

The Lakers brought Arizona's Allonzo Trier in for a second workout this week, according to league sources. The Lakers are looking to improve their shooting and Trier shot better in the second workout than his first according to sources. The 6-5 guard's stock could be rising.

Shaquille O'Neal joined draft prospects Mikal Bridges, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Marvin Begley III to host a day of mentorship for teens in Brooklyn with The Y and provide apparel from JCPenney. O'Neal said the look on the teens' faces reminded him of how he felt when he saw Julius Erving and David Robinson as a child and teen. "I understand the look so I just try to give them the key ingredients to make," O'Neal said. "It's the same thing I did. It ain't no rocket science on how to get here. For me it was, listen to my mom and dad, work hard and believe. That's it…. I followed those three principles and they got me to this point thus far."

Jaren Jackson Jr. joined Shaquille O'Neal and draft prospects Mikal Bridges and Marvin Begley III to host a day of mentorship for teens in Brooklyn with The Y and provide apparel from JCPenney. "It's great, it's really special because that's exactly what I would want if I was in high school," Jackson Jr. said of speaking to the teens. ".... We're still growing just like them, we're learning new things just like them. Instead of us being some executive or something like that, we can relate to them." Jackson Jr. has worked out for the Hawks and Suns and is expected to be selected within the top five picks on Thursday.

Shaquille O'Neal provided some advice to draft prospects Mikal Bridges, Marvin Bagley III and Jaren Jackson Jr. O'Neal and the soon-to-be rookies hosted a day of mentorship for teens in Brooklyn with The Y and provide them apparel from JCPenney. Here's Bridges on receiving advice from O'Neal: "There's a lot fo links in his belt," said Bridges, who said he learned a significant amount from O'Neal: "He's won championships with the Lakers - that's what I dream about.... It's great to hear from someone who has been throughthe process and been through it at the highest level." Bridges is scheduled to work out for Cleveland next week, his final workout before the NBA Draft.

Shaquille O'Neal joined draft prospects Mikal Bridges, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Marvin Begley III to host a day of mentorship for teens in Brooklyn with The Y and provide apparel from JCPenney. O'Neal was asked about LeBron James' free agency. He believes that if James' decision hinges on putting himself in the best position to win a title, it will be difficult for James to beat the Golden State Warriors. "Golden State turning themselves into a dynasty is making it hard for other teams to compete so he's either going to say, ‘I want to get four before (the Warriors) get four' and do a quick fix or Cleveland's going to have to do a lot of phone calls and lot of moves to get him the squad he wants," O'Neal said. "But it's going to be difficult. You have three superstars on one team that actually play the right way. Even with LeBron (on a roster), if you don't play the right way it doesn't matter."

Shaquille O'Neal joined draft prospects Mikal Bridges, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Marvin Begley III to host a day of mentorship for teens in Brooklyn with The Y and provide apparel from JCPenney. O'Neal was asked about LeBron James' pending free agency: "Somebody told me a long time ago, they said your book is already set (before the later stages of your career). You can add index pages toward the end, but your book is already set. So LeBron's book is already set," O'Neal said. "He done already passed up legends, he done already made his mark – he has three rings. His mentality now is probably is I want to get four before (Golden State Warriors guard) Steph (Curry) does. That's probably his mentality now. But if I was him I wouldn't be trying to get four, five and six because it ain't going to matter. It's just something else to talk about, something else to add to the pages. He's a legend, talked about as who is the best between he and Michael Jordan so he's set."

Shaquille O'Neal joined draft prospects Mikal Bridges, Jaren Jackson Jr. and Marvin Begley III to host a day of mentorship for teens in Brooklyn with The Y and provide apparel from JCPenney. O'Neal was asked about LeBron James: "My problem toward the end of my career was I was trying to shut everybody up and I was greedy (for more championships)," O'Neal said, relating that to James' coming free agency decision. "After I got to three (titles) everybody was saying I couldn't get another. So I got four. After I got the fourth, they were saying I couldn't get another one. So I was trying to make quick stops to get it. Phoenix, Cleveland, Boston."

Josh Hart has been working on his shooting, defensive quickness and has placed a big emphasis on his dribbling this offseason. He wants to "dominate" in summer league action next month. "I was a solid defender this year but next year being able to guard smaller, quicker guys, those types of things are the main emphasis for me this summer," said Hart, who co-hosted 200 youth from local nonprofits to watch a screening of "Uncle Drew" along with LA Chargers defensive end Isaac Rochell. "… I want to dominate [at summer league but] that doesn't mean I have to go out there and score 30 points every time. I can go out there and have 15 points, 10 rebounds and five or six assists and some steals. It is not just about scoring but going out there and showing the team and front office that I am improving and capable of taking the next step."

Josh Hart would love to see the Lakers draft one of his Villanova guys on Thursday night. Hart, who was drafted 30th overall out of Villanova last year, will spend draft night with former Wildcats teammate Jalen Brunson in New Jersey but will be in constant contact with Mikal Bridges, Donte DiVincenzo and Omari Spellman throughout the night as well. "Obviously, I want one of them on my team, one of the four," said Hart, who along with LA Chargers defensive end Isaac Rochell hosted a free screening of "Uncle Drew" for 200 local youth from local nonprofits like Brotherhood Crusade, Boys and Girls Club Venice and The Right Way Foundation in Los Angeles. "I am very excited to see where those guys land."

As free agency nears, Josh Hart said he tried persuading Paul George to come to LA when the two attended the recent E3 Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am event. "I did a little recruiting, some subtle jabs with him," said Hart, who along with LA Chargers defensive end Isaac Rochell hosted 200 local youth from local nonprofits for a free screening of "Uncle Drew" in Los Angeles. "It was fun. I told him that you can't beat 85 degrees and sunny in December. This weather as you can tell is amazing. I told him he should probably live in Playa Vista or Manhattan Beach. That was my two cents."

Josh Hart says Lonzo Ball and Kyle Kuzma and the Lakers' young core remain tight and reiterated that all the social media back and forth was light-hearted "fun." Hart said Ball's diss track on Kuzma was "interesting" but that all the roasting remains in the spirit of good-natured roasting. "We are 22, 23-year-old kids, we are just taking little subtle jabs and that kind of thing," Hart said as he and LA Chargers defensive end Isaac Rochell hosted a free screening of "Uncle Drew" for 200 local youth from local nonprofits like Brotherhood Crusade, Boys and Girls Club Venice and The Right Way Foundation in Los Angeles. "It is nothing more than that. We are all close off the court. And that is all it is, just messing around, having fun. We are cool off the court, we are cool on the court. That wasn't anything."
