The Bryce Harper leadoff experiment (2.0) is off to a good start. Batting atop the order for the first time in six weeks, Harper had two walks, a sac fly, and a double in four trips to help the Nationals beat the Orioles 4-2. It's the first time this month that Harper's reach base three times in a game.

File under UNLIKELY: Orioles outfielder Colby Rasmus, in his first at-bat after missing 10 weeks, went deep off Nats ace Max Scherzer. It's the first homer for Rasmus in over a year.

Bryce Harper is hitting leadoff for the first time in six weeks. Nats manager Davey Martinez says he made the switch to help his slumping slugger get back to taking his walks. Harper batted leadoff early May, drawing two walks. Since being moved out of the top spot, he has 45 strikeouts (most in NL) against 13 walks, and is hitting just .190.

The true madness of Max Scherzer

The Nats' ace swears he's normal. The evidence -- three Cy Youngs, 152 strikeouts in 2018 and a near obsession with minor tweaks -- proves otherwise.

The Nationals are undefeated in the Herr-Era. In their first game since acquiring Kelvin Herrera from KC, the Nats beat Baltimore 9-7. Herrera worked a perfect eighth, and Trea Turner went 4-for-4 with a homer and a double to key the offense.

File Kelvin Herrera's debut with the Nats under "Success." Working the eigth inning with a three-run lead, the former Royals closer retired the Orioles in order on six pitches, and his heater touched 98.
