Xander Bogaerts hit a two-run triple and added a pair of doubles, and the Boston Red Sox scored seven straight runs after allowing three in the first to beat the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3 on Friday night.

With Fri.'s announcement that the Red Sox' Triple-A team in Pawtucket, RI plans to move to Worcester, MA, it's notable that Rhode Island used to have a top team in a league with Boston (the Braves' forerunner). The Providence Grays won the National League title in 1879 & ‘84. And in three 2nd place seasons, 1880-2, they finished well ahead of Boston & the short-lived Worcester Ruby Legs (aka Worcesters).
